The 2008-2009 senior design course has finished. Please come back in the Fall for the 2009-2010 design projects.
Welcome New Students
Welcome to the UCSD Bioengineering Senior Design course. On this site you will find information about the course, documentation on past design projects, documentation for current students in the course, and other information on engineering design. The goal of the entire sequence is to give hands-on experience with engineering design for biomedical applications.
The course consists of 4 one-unit lecture courses (BE187 A-D in the Spring, Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters), and 2 three-unit lab courses (Fall and Winter quarters). Students will form groups of 4-5 people, and keep those groups for the duration of the sequence. Each group will be matched with a faculty sponsor, in some cases in collaboration with industry or outside clients, and a biomedical design project. Design projects are introduced in the first quarter; the second and third quarters are devoted to engineering design and implementation; final presentations are made in the second Spring quarter. The class is currently limited to Bioengineering and Bioengineering: Biotechnology majors only.
